June PoWriMo Day #4

Small raw excerpt from “Isle of Sankos.”  This poem will be a part of a larger cycle of narrative poems in the Dapania series.

The isle of Sankos knows no living man,

only those who perished on its golden

beaches after Dapania sang them

her song of longing, of passion,  of a

desperate love she desired but lacked.

June PoWriMo Prompt #4

I’ve always been interested in Greek mythology.  It is no surprise that I spent a month writing a series of poems on the Medusa myth.  I really enjoyed it.  Athena was my star, with Poseidon playing a smaller, but significant role.

Prompt #4: The Greek gods/goddesses

Write a poem or story based on a Greek god/goddess that intrigues you.  Feel free to venture beyond Zeus and Poseidon. There are tons of them out there.  Experiment and see what you come up with.

June PoWriMo Prompt #3

Growing up our solar system was made up of 9 planets.  Then, Pluto got demoted.  What exactly is Pluto is up for debate.  I will leave that one up to you as you carry out this exercise.

Prompt #3: The planets

Do you identify with the demoted Pluto? Or, have you had a love that scorched like Mercury?  Choice is up to you what you want to write about.  Have fun with it.

June PoWriMo Prompt #2

Some things are just summer.  Take, for instance, the weather: hot. Think 4th of July.  Think state fairs and carnivals.  Think cotton candy.

With these things in mind, consider this phrase: hot candy.  Think about the phrase.  Think about summer and write about it.

Prompt #2: hot candy

June PoWriMo Day #1

Raw excerpt for today.  I will be posting these everyday.  I hope to write a marathon of 30 poems this month.  Want to join me?  Please do!

Raw excerpt:  Your love is an unexpected snowstorm in March that crushes the tender shoots penetrating the cold ground, a defeat of the simple desire to live.

June PoWriMo Prompt #1

OK, for those of you looking for prompts, or perhaps want to join me in writing more (30 poems!) this month, here is your daily prompt.  Some days it will be a scenario.  Other days it will be a word or phrase.  Take what you can from them and just write!

One word: gruntled.  Yes, this is a word.  Not disgruntled, which is the better known word. Nope.

Gruntled: means to be pleased, satisfied, and contented.  Use this word as you will in your next writing project.

Get writing!
